Chaser, a border collie, is smarter than the average dog. She has learned the names of 1,022 items and can categorize them by their function and shape. This makes her the animal with the biggest vocabulary in the world.

South Carolina psychologists spent over three years teaching Chaser the names of 1,022 toys by showing them to her individually, having her fetch the toy, and then repeating the name of the toy. On average, Chaser associates a toy name with the correct toy 80% of the time.
