Ohai hotdogz! As Mal-o-Mutie week drawz 2 a conclushun, we need ur help desidin wut breed ob goggie we shud featcha nekst week! And here’s an interesting fact about our featured dogs this week: All of them are 2011 additions to the American Kennel Club and have never been featured on I Has a Hotdog before! AWESOME.

Norwegian Lundehund– There are few awesome things about this pup here. First, the Norwegian Lundehund has 6 toes on each paw! 6! AWESOME. This dog breed can also bend its legs much like a human can bend its elbow. AWESOME. Oh, and it hunts puffins. Yep, puffins! AWESOME.

Entlebucher Mountain Dog– The Entlebucher Mountain Dog is also a pretty sweet pup. First, it can have a naturally bobbed tail. So cute! AWESOME. Second, this breed is native of Switzerland and related to the Bernese Mountain Dog. AWESOME. And, the Entlebucher can be excellent guard dog as its incredibly loyal to its family and leery of strangers. Grrr, dis hooman is mine! AWESOME.

Xoloitzcuintli– Ok, first things first, how do you pronounce this dog’s name? Here’s how : “show-low-eats-queen-tlee.” Yep, that’s a mouthfull! AWESOME. Wait, why is he hairless? Well, it’s believed that he was created by the Aztec God Xolotl to guide people through the underworld, so maybe the underworld is difficult for hairy dogs? Who knows? AWESOME. Oh, and this dog, because of it being hairless and having warm skin, is known to help ward off evil spirits and help people suffering from rheumatism and insomnia. AWESOME.

Leonberger– The Leonberger hails from Leonberg, Germany, where its supposed to resemble the lion on the coat of arms of the city. So, the Leonberger is basically a giant Lion-Dog. AWESOME. If you have ever seen the 1997 version of “Call of the Wild” you probably saw some amazing Leonbergers playing the role of Buck. AWESOME. Oh, and did I mention this breed was almost wiped out entirely after World War II because they were used to pull ammunition carts and were killed? All Leonbergers alive today can trace their ancestry back to 8 pretty amazing WWII survivors. AWESOME.
