Deaf Couple Adopts Deaf Puppy, Teaches Her Sign Language

Alice, a deaf springer spaniel puppy, started life on a bad paw; because of her disability, she was abandoned by her breeder at only eight weeks old;
But things fortunately took a turn for the better, because less than a month after being rescued by The Blue Cross, Alice was adopted by Marie Williams and Mark Morgan — themselves a deaf couple — and is now happy in a new home and learning sign language.

Graham Waspe, a blind man, was heartbroken when he found out that Edward, his loyal service dog of six years, had gone blind after developing cataracts. But his sadness soon vanished when Opal, his replacement service dog, turned out to be a real gem.
In addition to helping Waspe live a happy and active life, Opal has also taken it upon herself to help Edward get around.
“Opal’s been great for both of us,” Waspe said in an interview with the Daily Mail. “I don’t know what we’d do without her.”
