Do You Hear Screaming?

Looking for ways to keep your goggie friend cool this summer? How about an ice cream van specifically for your four-legged companion? If you’re in London starting this Saturday, keep an eye out for the K99 van.

They have two flavors available, ham and chicken or vanilla, and they’re both served in a delicious doggie-treat cone. Just listen for the Scooby Doo theme song!

  6. Gretgor says:

Really? It sounds like a pretty dumb idea to me.

  7. Vehicon says:

    dito.

  9. hmph says:

Dogs aren’t lactose intolerant like cats are they??

    • If they are, those owners are fixing to find out!

Actually I don’t think they are. If you go to your grocers ice cream freezer, you might see frozen doggie treats there already

    • Yo Momma says:

know, ai geev mah pudels ize kreem sumtiemz & dey <3 itz!

& awlso, ai tink dat teh kittehz izint teh lacktoez intawlurantz eethur cuz dey wuv teh melkz!!

    • PapillonAddict says:

It’s probably a specialty mix. They make all sorts of human treats dog-friendly.
But ice cream totally gives dogs terrible gas.

      • diane says:

        Really?

I’ve always given my dogs ice cream, and they’ve never had any problems from it.

Of course, I give my dogs several things you’re technically not supposed to, (chicken bones, chocolate, etc…), and they’re all still alive and well.

    • Eskimonix says:

Usually they are, but they make a large line of frozen doggie treats without lactose. I reckon this wouldn’t be too different. They taste like cardbord to humans but doggies love em.

      Cats are lactose intolerant?

      Never heard of that before.

My Punkin gets my cereal-milk leftovers everyday….

      • Antikythera says:

I think cats who have always had milk since they were kittens are generally fine with it. If they weren’t fed milk and you try to give it to them as adults they might have problems. Our guys have always had a little taste of milk now and then and have been trouble-free.

    • ObeyTheKiwi says:

cats are lactose intolerant ? hmmm i might have a problem x) but wait cats drink milk Oo

  10. hawksong001 says:

Dogs are perfectly fine with a little icecream every now and then. Vets even say to put a bit of milk in their water to get them to drink it.(when the dog is dehydrated)

This is a great Idea and I wish they had these in the US!

  11. Naomi says:

does it play music that only dogs can hear so the dogs can become as annoying as children wanting ice cream?

  12. anaislynne says:

dogs CANNOT eat chocolate ice cream at all. It’s lethal to pets, just an fyi

    • Chrissi says:

Technically, it’s only dark chocolate that’s truly dangerous. The cacao in milk chocolate is diluted enough to be safe if accidentally ingested in large amounts or intentionally ingested in small amounts. It’s the cacao that’s lethal and it’s much more concentrated in dark chocolate. The reason most dogs survive ingesting chocolate is because most families don’t keep large amounts of dark chocolate on-hand.

  13. Ashley says:

@hmph- it’s probably a lactose-free ice cream, like all the ice cream out there made specifically for non-human animals. At our local PetsHotel, it comes out of an ice cream machine like at McDonald’s and even tastes like regular ice cream, just with the lactose nullified.

  14. Kelly Thomas says:

OMG…my pup would think her dreams had come true. What a GRAND idea!

  15. Col says:

Very cute, but they don’t have pockets to hold the ice cream money!

  16. 3motzus says:

My 3 Shih Tzus love going to the local drive-in for a free doggie cone, they know the minute we drive up they’re going to get a treat.
When they are boarded at Petsmart Hotel, they get to go to daycamp with a ice cream treat that is lactose free. They love it!

  17. Hierophantria says:

This is a cute idea. And to those who asked, there are lots of critter friendly treats out there, especially forms of ice cream. My pups usually get something nice on birthdays and if they’ve been especially well behaved during a month.

  18. Desi says:

Nice pun name too. Not sure if you have them outside the UK but a 99 is an ice-cream with a Flake stuck in it (sort of chocolate bar, Cadbury one. Like lots of ripples all stuck together. Hard to describe!). And of course K9 is a famous robot dog Doctor Who companion.

  19. Desi says:

Actually, there’s been a lot of K-9′s in various films and cartoons. But I’m British and of a certain age, so there’s only one K-9 for me. :-)

  20. Miniki says:

    I love this idea.

I don’t give them chocolate but both of them (cat and dog) just love milk and they are in perfect healt.

  21. Audre says:

The doggie ice cream trucks I’ve seen give out lactose-free ice cream. However, my dog didn’t care for it one bit. Giant waste of $4. Then again, Ryu is picky.

  22. Renee says:

If you have a Dairy Queen near you, ask for a Pup Cup – its a small cup of ice cream for your dog and, the best part, its FREE!! Just ask for one!

  23. rapture4 says:

Aww I feel bad for the tiny dogies

  24. Xear says:

My googie would be jelous (RIP)

  25. KeeperOfTheReaper says:

My dog likes to steal my popsickles.
