A friend of mine on deviantart has a very special boy like this, though his old owners didn’t chop parts of his body off. He’s gone from a horribly shy and pained, skin-infested nightmare to a gorgeous, sleek and *happy* dog. If I didn’t already have 8 cats… I’d love to help out dogs like these.

  6. fish eye no miko says:

Aw, this picture gives me a sad, then a happy…

  7. kosher ham says:

And now, the long, traumatic process of healing this poor goggie’s psyche begins. But I do say it’s worth it.

I say we carve off the abuser’s ears.

    • Chris Tucker says:

      “With a spoon!”

      “Why a spoon?”

      “Because it’ll hurt MORE!”

(From one of the many scenes in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves where Alan Rickman chews up the scenery and spits out sawdust.)

      • sophistiKate says:

I sincerely hope you mean that as a compliment, because Alan Rickman over-the-top is the only way I want to see Alan Rickman.

  8. I_Love_Goggies says:

    What a sweet face!!

How can you not fall in love with that face? :D

  9. SashaJo says:

Some people suck. Cheers to the heroes who love all the creatures, especially those creatures who go the short end of the stick initially.

And really, it should be a rusty spoon, the bastards.

  10. Matthias says:

Dis picshur meaks me sad, but happie then. Hope die doggie will haz a good life nao.

  11. mimi says:

How can anyone be cruel to a dog? I really just don’t understand it…any animal, but dogs especially….How can someone look into those trusting eyes and betray that trust?

They’re the kind of people who look only at the money a dog can bring in. My Minnie is a rescue from a puppy mill where she was a breeder dog. Her puppies went for $3,000 apiece. She was kept outside in a cage. When she was rescued she was 3 & 1/2 pounds (suppose to be 7 – she’s a mini), all but 7 of her teeth had to be pulled, her ears and tail were covered in fly strike, she had an area of her body that had such a massive infection the vet had to surgically remove the flesh, she had roundworms – it was awful and she was one of 300 small breed dogs in that puppy mill alone. (Four total were raided that night by different groups, one even by Caesar Millan!)

They didn’t see the sweet, loving, smart little diva dog Minnie is. (Seriously, the dog LOVES to dress up! The more lace, ruffles, and frills the happier she is! When I don’t dress her she gets depressed!) They just saw the $3,000 they could get per puppy.

I bet you anything this dog was a fighter dog or some other money maker. Human greed. It causes wars, abuse, and corrupt politicians.

Prison is too good for those people. At least their cages are kept out of the weather and are cleaned.

        • jamisings says:

And they get barely any time what so ever.

Our justice system is really messed up. We release pedophiles, let animal abusers run free, and throw people in for years for an ounce of pot. Now don’t get me wrong, I hate pot and think the world would be better off without it. But someone with a single ounce should only get three months tops. Pedophiles should get life without parole and animal abusers should get a minimum of 25 years with no parole.

          • sylderon says:

Yes, it does seem that the priorities are bassackwards. I’ve also read about people forced to register as sex offenders for a simple charge of public urination. I still think that the punishment I describe below would be still more fitting, don’t you?

            • jamisings says:

              Yep.

Every time my Minnie looks at me with her beautiful blue eyes with that devotion and unconditional love that only a dog can give, I want to find the people who ran the mill she was imprisoned in and beat them up.

              • Girlysprite says:

I fully understand the sentiment and agree with it though…every time i see such things and the reactions, I am thinking of the poor animals raised for meat (cows, pigs, chickens, etc).
That is because I own a minipig myself, and have the same sentiments when seeing the bad conditions that cattle grow up into. I hope others can understand this sentiment from me.
It’s not just dogs treated badly out there. Many animals are mistreated, but those owners don’t go to jail…no, they get paid for their wares.

                • jamisings says:

That’s why I prefer kosher meats. To be kosher it’s got to me more then just not pork, the animal itself had to be treated with kindness, kept healthy, and when it’s time to slaughter them it has to be quick and painless.

Kosher laws regarding animals for food are really strict and all about being kind to the animal, even after death – that’s why you’re not suppose to mix meat and milk or chicken and eggs. In fact, the laws are so strict that it’s believed they were put in place to make getting meat so hard it would eventually make all humans vegetarians. Because fruits and veggies are always kosher.

          • robowarrior says:

In my opinion animal abusers should have inflicted upon them whatever they did to the animal, including being killed if that’s what they did.

  12. sylderon says:

I sincerely hope that whoever did this is hunted down, torn to pieces, and then devoured by a pack of wolves. Or a pack of Yorkies, which would be so much funnier!

  13. Tigerlillyofthevalley says:

Tears in the my morning coffee…sad ones then happy ones….animal abusers should suffer the same treatment they gave their pets. Off with their ears!!!

  14. Tigerlillyofthevalley says:

sorry…threw an extra “the” in there….

  15. sher says:

he reminds me of ‘Beautiful Joe’, one of my all-time favorite children’s books! he has my heart.

  16. rosieluv says:

Aawww. I hope this doggie has a happy, forever home now, away from the idiots who maimed him (assuming it wasn’t a medical necessity or something). Cropped ears look stupid on breeds like danes and dobermann pinschers anyway. Don’t start me on taildocking… Grrr. The kennel clubs should get a grip.

    • sylderon says:

I’ve never understood that practice myself. Another reason why I’m a kitteh person: We wuvs teh hole kitteh, and does not cut off parts of it.

    • keshet says:

I almost docked the tail of one of my dogs because he kept breaking the tip open and bleeding all over the place from hitting stuff when he was wagging it. After the 3rd or 4th time it happened, I told him if it happened again his tail was getting docked. It never happened again.

  17. Cowdogwah says:

ai keepz kummin bakk 2 dis pixture–peepz, iffen u kanz, trow som munnies in da “tip jar” ov da lokal aminal societee, oar bringz da “cruelty investigators” a platter of bagels. Dey r un songed herowz!1!!!!

  18. ceallaig says:

Ear and tail docking more often than not are done because that is breed standard, and it’s breed standard because someone, somewhere decided that the dog didn’t look good enough the way it was. I am reminded of a scene in Black Beauty (the mention of Beautiful Joe brought it to mind) where a mother dog gives birth to a lovely litter, then her babies are taken and have ears and tails docked. They are crying and mommy is licking them trying to make it better, and all Beauty can think is, why do humans do such things ‘for fashion’? Horses’ tails get docked too, and they are miserable because the flies sting all the time and they can’t brush them off. Anna Sewell wrote a wonderful book that actually succeeded in getting laws changed.

And yes, rescuers are unsung heroes — whatever happened to this beautiful baby, whether intentional, accidental, or the result of a medical misstep, I am very happy there is a ‘forever’ home and a good life waiting. My sister has a houseful of rescues, most of them special needs of one sort and another, and seeing how they went from scared, scarred, and malnourished to happy, sleek, and loving, albeit still with some issues to be resolved (with time and love), all the time, effort and money she’s spent is worth it.

  19. alexis says:

I LOVE THIS ONE! It brings a tear to my eye, really. :’-)

  20. Sam says:

Looks like a Central Asian Shepherd(Ovtcharka).. they’re supposed to have their ears cut like that, and it looks very nice, but this one looks rather inappropriate. I’m sure if there was a full picture there would be an inadequately docked tail as well. This doggy gave me my first smile of the day. I hope all those dogs can find loving homes, and kudos to those who offer.

  21. molly says:

hooray for pound puppies and rescue goggies! my border collie/gray hound dog came from a shelter, someone had thrown her and her family out, including her mommy, its the previous owners fault for not getting their dog fixed if they didn’t want it to have puppies, also its abusive to get dogs ears cropped…..people wouldn’t cut off their own or their kids ears but they think its OK to do it to an animal?

  22. HP says:

i do not think this looks good
    poor puppy
would you want some one to cut your ear off just because they can
dont forget that most dogs ( no not all we kinnda got in the way with in breading ) are ment to have big ears so they can hear !!!
