Look it up on YouTube–the dogs and po’s get along swimmingly. The guys in the camps keep a watch on them, and chase off any po-bears that get more bitey than social.
(Of course, the guys don’t PERSONALLY interact with the bears… *cough*)

It’s hard to believe that this polar bear only needed to hug someone!
The Polar Bear returned every night that week to play with the dogs.

This picture is from a series of photos a man took of his dog and the bear. The dog did not end up hurt – this bear was friendly. I’m sure if you google “dog and polar bear” you’ll find it. It’s amazing. Animals don’t always follow the “rules”.

Still don’t like the picture. The downside is too great. The photographer was just lucky. That is, his dogs were just lucky. I wonder if it was a juvenile, and well-fed, bear.

This is from a series of pix taken by the guy who owned the team of sled dogs. He thought they were goners too (not much he could do!) but the bear actually played with the dogs, rolled over acted submissive, and it all ended well. No wolfed down woofers. Chillax people.
This interaction is saturatingly well-documented in a number of ways. A couple of polar bears made friends with a pack of sled dogs and played with them frequently, never apparently thinking of them as prey. They are a teddy woof indeed.
Please link the well documented proof otherwise this is a terrible picture.

It’s surprising that people still don’t have a clue about this case, it’s been around for a long time and has been published a lot.
