Man, that is a whole bunch of cool dogs.

  2. TheCannieScot says:

Aussies! But what “large quantity?” I only count 11. Just be careful not breed merles to merles.

  3. angie says:

  4. Ms. Tic says:

  5. mimi says:

LOL – look at the photos on the wall….. more dogs :)

  6. puppatoons says:

Precisely why I can’t stand “backyard breeders”…breed the dog, crank ‘em out, sell some puppies, get some cash..
At least the licensed, inspected and respected breeders review you up and down, promise to take the dog back if you end up not wanting it, and only breed dogs once or twice a year. They really put more in than they get back out. This guy kinda looks like one of those!

      * If ALL breeders stopped right now, the animal population would do what? THAT’S RIGHT. It would DECREASE! *
I have to laugh at the idea that ordering dog sperm from CA to mate it with a dog from MA is the way nature intended it. Humans and their hobbies!

      • d says:

In nature animals that over-populate, soon live to regret it. In nature, they’d only breed to the point that they can sustain themselves, or they die next time there is a food shortage. If you want to talk nature, then fine. But there’s nothing natural about letting pet animals that we feed, house, take care of breed at whim. Haven’t you seen what’s happening to animals now that the economy has crashed? Lots of ‘em, but the owners now don’t have money to take care of them. Yeah, natural.

      • forthelost says:

Of course, if all breeders stopped breeding, there would in ten years or so be no more dogs.

        I think that’s a bad thing.

        • puppatoons says:

          That’s what I hear a lot–no,no,hear me out!:D
The idea wouldn’t be to reduce it all to NO dogs, just finally emptying out all the shelters, relieving all the rescue groups of their dogs through adoptions, and finally get back to square one, where if you wanted a dog, it would be like when you go to adopt one or if you buy from a responsible breeder. You’re screened and interviewed, you pay an adoption fee or a reasonable,bu not cheap, price(instead of hiked up “fad dog” prices). You sign a contract to bring the dog back if you don’t want it, etc..that way, someone is checking things out up front; if you don’t have the right conditions, employment ,means or brains to care for a dog properly, guess what? You don’t get the dog.
          But that’s just a burnt-out animal rescuer’s crazy idea…:P

          • forthelost says:

Oh, I’m all for rescuing dogs. (I made the lol a while back that said “until there are none, rescue one”) I just think halting breeding from everyone is pointless to the reputable ones. The BYB’s are the ones that need to stop.

It’s a matter of limiting breeding down to legit breeders.

Now my new dog, Minnie, (I adopted her in September, my dog Audrey had died in February at the age of 16, in fact, it’ll be a year on Sunday), was a breeder dog in a puppy mill. Since getting her I have had to spend a load of money on vet bills because she was kept in a cage outside in Lancaster, CA. She has 7 teeth, had to have major surgery for an infection she had since the puppy mill that antibiotics couldn’t clear up, recently had to be dewormed (again, had those since the puppy mill, they just didn’t show up in the first fecal exam).

When I first got her she could only walk in circles. I’m currently giving her a pill to keep her from eating her poop. She was 3 1/2 pounds when rescued in the raid. Five pounds when I adopted her. (She’s a miniature.) Now she’s 7 pounds. She used to cringe when people would go to pet her. She’s still a bit skiddish.

Also her front right leg and her back left leg both look like they had been broken at some point and healed wrong.

She’s a wonderful, loving, loyal little dog. A lot of her pictures are available for captioning, though none of the captions have made it to the main page yet. She’s been a great comfort though I still cry hard for my sweet Audrey.

See what I mean though? No LEGIT breeder would’ve done those things to Minnie. But a backyard – or in this case – puppy mill breeder – would. Which is why breeding needs to be strongly limited.

          • Sylderon says:

I can only hope that those responsible for such treatment are torn apart by a pack of wolves. Or a pack of Yorkies, which would my so much funnier. =^.^=

            • jamisings says:

Small breed dogs should get them as they, and the other three puppy mills that were raided the night Minnie was rescued (at one of them, Cesar Milian was participating in and filming the raid) all specialized in. Minnie herself is a miniature malte-poo. But there were also Yorkies and other small breed dogs on all four puppy mills, all kept outside in cages.

I got a sweet dog now. She’s not Audrey, who was more like a soul mate to me, but Minnie is a darling dog. LOVES clothes. I don’t know why but that dog LOVES to dress up! The more frills and lace, the brighter the pinks, the happier she is. Can hardly wait to get into some outfits. And recently I bought her two cloth collars, one bright pink but plain and one bright pink with fake “bling” on it. She went absolutely WILD for the one with bling.

          • Antikythera says:

Limiting to legit breeders, but also getting people to recognize that if they want a pet rather than a show/working/hunting dog, a mutt is just as good as a purebred.

            • jamisings says:

And that shelter animals are not “problem animals.” My oldest brother and his girlfriend got REALLY upset with me after Audrey died and I said I wanted to adopt a dog from a shelter. Kept telling me that I’d get a dog with “emotional problems” and “violent tendencies.” Kept sending me info on breeders, pet stores that sell dogs, etc. Oh I got SO many lectures from them, the so-called animal lovers, about how you should NEVER adopt a shelter animal.

(They were also there when Audrey was put to sleep and she actually interrupted my goodbyes to her. It was MY time to say goodbye to MY dog. And she had to pipe up.)

Course after they saw how sweet Minnie is they went out and adopted two kittens from a shelter. (They also own a Yorkie they bought from a breeder.)

As I tell people, Minnie chose me. When I went into Save A Pet (a no-kill shelter in Palm Springs, CA) unlike all the other dogs that either barked a lot or backed away towards the wall, she stood at her cage door and just stared intently. She knew who she wanted to go home with.

      • puppatoons says:

I know..I really just people would adopt dogs, but that won’t ever happen.

    • KC says:

My aussie came from a good breeder. Know how I know? He and he sister were sold to a woman who did not take proper care of them so the breeder went down and took them back. That’s someone who cares about their dogs.

  14. Old Sot says:

There is nothing humorus about breeding.

  15. Shelly says:

Best dog I ever had was an Aussie. Not very pretty, but patient, gentle, and well-mannered. You didn’t have to watch him at the food bowl to make sure he wouldn’t bite you like the Shepherd-Lab mix we had.

He was abandoned near our property and just wouldn’t leave…but that’s okay, we all loved him.

And then my dad ran over him and we had to put him down.

  16. Alex says:

Ohhh I love ‘em… every one of those dogs there is smarter than that guy sitting there :D

  17. deanna clark says:

Actually We adopted a street mutt who had puppies and now we have 7 dogs…every family member has a favorite. I champion good treatment of animals and buy only meat humanely raised even though it’s a budget buster. However it is important to remember why God gave us poor humans dogs. I was driving home at 3;00 am and saw a little teenage girl crying on a doorstep alone. Licking her hand was a little puppy whom I’m sure will never get meds or vitamins…but was fullfilling her whole purpose in this world. I’m sure our dogs and cats go to Heaven. When my little girl died, she appeared in the living room with her kitten just to prove a family friend wrong about the subject…she had a great mischievous grin…”told you so!”

  18. Teek says:

Beautiful Aussies. <3 Our blue merle puppy will someday be as pretty~
