Genius way to get fast-eaters to slow down. Had to do this with one of my dogs once. They’d eat too fast and get bloat.

Yeah, and those dogs who inhale their share so they can run over to ear the other dog’s as well. My mom had a part-basset dog many years ago named Awful Arthur whose greed at feeding time lead to him picking up his bowl, carrying it over and stacking it on Pilgrim’s bowl, then he’d try to carry both to the third bowl.

Thanks for the explanation. I was thinking this was one of the weirdest things I had ever seen.

Poor dachsunds. I unfortunately can only see back pain in this picture. The shape of doxie’s has always made me cringe, but these two look like they’ve been stretched out more than usual.

    • NoseMoking says:

the stretched out factor may be due to puppies – they look like they’re both nursing mummy goggies.

Both my doxies lived to be about 15 with no back problems. Not all of them end up that way. If you keep the weight down, keep them from sitting upright on the hind legs, and give them regular exercise they end up okay. These two are adorable!!
