Anyone can decide something is ridiculous, as long as they offer a sound argument or evidence. For example, if someone claims that the Earth is only 6,000-10,000 years old, I’m going to say that’s ridiculous because it flies in the face of mountains of scientific evidence, not to mention common sense. I don’t care that it’s their belief, opinions are not immune to criticism.

And if people are going to create religiously themed loldog captions, and the mods are going to put said captions up, then I feel completely justified in having a religiously themed debate.

But who gets to decide what’s ridiculous? Obviously some people here think that believing in God is ridiculous. Does that give them the right to pick at people who do believe in God? (Or vice versa?)

My point is not to be snarky. My point is that if someone’s belief is patently ridiculous, you can sneer at it. Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but no gets to be immune from criticism just because “It’s their belief.”

Not by all denominations actually. All religions, the popular bit of the religion- or that is literally well known for and practiced by the main denominations and culture-rrligious groups- practices and beleives are not always parallell to those of orriginal interpretations of the orriginal scriptures, ect. especially since one of the agrred ish Islamic beleives is that the Islam begins with Adam, throught David, Christ, Jonas, ect. Ze problem is keeping the pest hygenically clean as opposed to religious purity/polution perspectives – which is if we think something is claen or not. Blood is never unclean when in our bodies, and is vritually sacred when ie giving blood to save a life, but never is if a best liks ur face with fresh mouse blood, if the beast do decide to defend u against said mouse. I live in hope!

Going by the general usage of “blessed” and various blessed things the point is to ask God to ensure that the whatever is blessed will be good to and for the faithful. If you want to know in detail the point of an animal blessing then get a copy of the prayers. The blessing prayer expresses the point of the blessing.

Also, isn’t it rude to refer people whose beliefs differ from yours “sheeple”?

The deog is associated with the dead, as in Anubis, as they frewquented the cemetARIES. These weere on the @the brderlands’ or lans between the city towns of ancient egypt, Summer, ect. Life was easier for them there and they could eat all the offerings. Also when chistinity as a power movement- I would argue against christ message -to crush paganism to make place for there faith, laws, power, rthey had to vilify all the “pagan” (orriginal meaning, peasant) practices. So the Wolf spirit guides of the “american indans” and “witches”, Anubis, was livified. Some philosophy are based on fear, same as some responces to dogs and god today!! Hey nothing EVER changes!

PS I also have to laugh every year when local non-Catholic churches celebrate St. Francis of Assisi by holding “blessing of the animals” events. Christian DOGma insists that only humans have souls, so what’s the point? (I know, I know. It’s to lure new sheeple into the fold.)

And “Beware of DOGma” by Dan BARKER is a VERY good CD…..heh!

The Puritans, and other fanatics, who settled what is now New England really believed that dogs were evil precisely because DOG is GOD spelled backwards. Other religions, going back as far as the Romans polytheism, also consider dogs to be “unclean” or from the Hades, or the Underworld. I don’t know why.
