  1. Tom says:

You may laugh, but a border collie was the only babysitter I ever had. My mother would simply put me out the front door with her, and she wouldn’t let anyone near me and would herd me back into the house for meals and diaper changes.

It’s not like this was irresponsible in any way however. After all, she had excellent references. You see, I was the third boy she raised…

  2. Markitteh says:

And you just KNOW this goggie will guard this kiddie wif its life

  3. Gretgor says:

Dat a goggie or a cao?

  4. Evertide says:

That baby doesn’t even look real.

    • Phage0070 says:

Yeah, looks a little thin. Or dressed much younger, and has young-looking hands.

Or he just looks goofy, which may be the most likely.

  5. Cowdogwah says:

  6. Nana says:

  7. mommer says:

Sorry – it needs to be said – that’s a face only a mother could love

    • y2kitty says:

      Baby cute. Your manners not.

      • swimberly says:

Nope, sorry y2kitty, but that baby is a little odd-looking. The kid looks kinda like a bat. I’d say a quarter bat, like if Batboy had a kid with someone normal. No harm meant, though, I’m sure the kid will grow out of it. :)

    SNERK

  9. Gyre says:

If anyone here, besides me, is old enough to remember Red Buttons, I’ll bet he looked just like this when he was a baby!

  10. FreeatIC says:

This reminds me so much of the “Good Dog Carl” books!

  11. Dog Trainer says:

A good quality dane can be very gentle and I’m sure the dog will be a lovely companion to the baby, but I’m sorry, this is so unsafe. A knock at the door, a sudden noise, someone steps on a squeaky toy, and the dog could leap off the couch. Stepping on, scratching, or knocking the baby off the couch could cause serious harm with a dog that large. Hopefully it was just a quick photo op. I am not against big dog with babies, I have 4 GSDs that adore infants, but the child’s safety must come first.

  12. Mabell says:

Never had a Dane move while babies where sitting or sleeping on them no matter the chaos happening inside or outside of house. And have had LOTS of babies sleep on them.

  13. Shella says:

It’s just like when my husband was sleeping with a sleeping baby on him on the couch. I was worried the baby would fall off & went to move said baby & both my husband’s arms came up & I’d have had to wake him to be able to pry the baby away. My dog & cat will play rough with my 22 year old linebacker son to the point they are growling & hissing & biting. If my 5 year old granddaughter would try the same stuff with either animal, they would react differently because they KNOW she is smaller & they can’t play rough with her. In many cases, animals are smarter & more loving than people!
