Prince Charles spaniel would be the “colour”… King Charles Spaniels come in four colours. Prince Charles, King Charles, Blenheim and Ruby.

I think it’s meant to be a joke, crossing King Charles (the dog) with Prince Charles (the British dude) and the idea that if you kiss a toad it turns into a prince.
