zomg I remembers this. “Are you sitting comfortably? Then we can begin.” Also used as the intro to Canadian rock band Platinum Blonde’s 80s hit song, “It Doesn’t Really Matter”.

Interesting! I’ll grant you the Falk resemblance. But the theory that this is a PB reference would be more plausible if Falk’s character said anything like “Are you sitting comfortably? Then I’ll begin” in the movie. But I don’t think he does. Whereas this caption is pretty much word-for-word the same as the opening of the “Listen with Mother” shows. (Has anybody asked Feel-Good just what he was referencing?? OBTW, congrats to Feel-Good for the front-page Lol appearance!)

Seems there’s some slight confusion among a few of you….this is definitely a Princess Bride reference (the movie, not the book), as this goggie looks JUST like Peter Falk in the movie, when he was reading the book to Fred Savage (his “grandson”)…see here: http://www.chroniclebooks.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/princessbride.jpg

Interesting! I’d heard the “Are you sitting comfortably?” line in Michael Flanders’ introduction to the
Flanders/Swann version of “Greensleeves” on the “At the drop of a Hat” album (1959) but, being from the USA, I didn’t realize he was quoting a famous line from “Listen with Mother” ! No wonder the audience chuckled. Thanks, people!
