but guns (many) and dogs are the ultimate protection!

My gun is perfectly safe, fully loaded with one in the pipe… unless you are a bad guy. But I have at least one on my hip at all times (where legal)

So yes, dogs are good for protection – but so are guns and I always have my gun the dogs stays at home when I work.

But for HD both are the way to go.

I have a Dane and he escorts me to my car at night and one night these guys were in my yard stealing peaches off my peach tree and he went after them like a demon scared them half to death. It was hilarous! Most Danes are very gentle but are very protective and loyal of their families.

Yeah, my friends have a pair of great danes, and they are pretty useless. One of them has a pinched nerve and requires accupuncture, and the other one has irritable bowel syndrome. So, if an intruder came in the house, one would drag a rear leg around, and the other would shit itself.

My Daner was home alone when some dumb kid broke in. She let him come in, but she wouldn’t let him out. When we got home a bit later, the kid was scrunched up in a little ball on the kitchen counter. Molly standing guard and growling (according to the kid) every time he moved. He was so happy when the cops came.

You know. I’ve never seen an aggressive great dane in my life.
The ones I’ve met would be more likely to snuggle up to any intruder and encourage him to scratch them behind the ears.
