They are Belgian Shepherds / Belgian Tervuren, not collies.

… of course I’ve been told that I speak to my baby in my “speaking to dogs” voice, but the baby’s already bitten me several times and I don’t care

Remember, a good firm NO is just as important with puppies as it is with babies. I learnt all my best child-rearing tricks while training dogs

An unintended side effect, of course, is that my daughter’s and dog’s names are now interchangeable. The dog doesn’t care, but my daughter gives a pretty wicked eye roll when I inadvertently use her name with “SIT”.
