It doesn’t actually make you all that old considering the fact that I’m 23 and have seen both series in their entirety. Sure, I watched them in re-run on Nick at Night as a child, but the argument still stands…

Bob Newhart’s 2nd sitcom in the late 80′s was set in rural Vermont. Bob’s neighbors, the 3 Darryls were real hicks. Darryl ALWAYS entered the scene with “Hi, I’m Darryl, this is my brother Darryl and this is my other brother Darryl”. Brother Darryl and Other Brother Darryl never spoke but the absudness of it all combined with Darryl’s deadpan delivery and intelligent witticisms was a touch of comic genius. In fact, the final show for this sitcom is still rated number 1 by many critics. No one could have predicted the ending. In the last scene Bob wakes up in bed with wife (Suzanne Pleschette) from his first sitcom in the 70′s to tell her about the strange dream about living in Vermont as an inkeeper. Sadly, Bob Newhart, one of the funniest comics of all time, has blocked all utube clips for both his sitcoms and his standup.

Larry is doing the introduction. You don’t stare at the person doing the introduction, you stare at the people being introduced =P

That said, as I mentioned above, it would have been better with a third dog or a third critter, ‘cos in the show Larry would stand in front of Darryl and Darryl and introduce himself to guests: “Hi, Ah’m Larry. This is m’ brother Darryl.” At which point he’d thrust a thumb over his shoulder to indicate Darryl #1. “‘N’ this is m’ other brother Darryl.” And he’d use the other thumb to indicate Darryl #2. Running joke that remained funny ‘cos it wasn’t overused.

But this one is still funny!!

Those girls were creepy. That whole movie was creepy. My father laughs so hard at Jack Nicholson going nuts, but I still have nightmares about people smashing thorugh my doors.

It would, admittedly, be funnier if there were three of them (so that one could be Larry). Larry, Darryl and Darryl were actually not from the original The Bob Newhart Show (which ended its run in 1978 or thereabouts) but its sister show “Newhart”, which began airing in 1982. Obviously, they both starred Bob Newhart (brilliant, gentle man). How old does that make me, that I remember both series?

But still, this caption made me LOL. And I don’t LOL often during the day ‘cos I work in a stuffy corporate environment!

Well, you’ve got to be old enough to remember a very funny sitcom w/Bob Newhart from 20-25 years ago with a quirky cast of characters. This is a line that was used often in the show as the oldest brother always introduced his two brothers this way…the Darryl’s never spoke.

Believe me, this picture with this caption is funny as can be!
