The more I am around people, the more I like my dogs. So said an un-named writer and so says me. They may be close kin to wild wolves, but there is no better companion and no more loyal friend.

I have one of those old goggies, he’s about 7 or 8 (or maybe older) and he’s been with us for nearly 4 years. He’s the sweetest baby we’ve ever had, loves everybody. Shelter dogs are frequently the most loving, and older dogs deserve a good home too!

      LOL

You are the only one who has made that connection so far. This dog is actually owned by me and my husband, user Dolphin824. He just didn’t know how to claim ownership of the picture after he first uploaded. (The hubby, while an outstanding IT guy, isn’t so hot on small things like that. *grins*)

Anyway, you are correct: Luna is actually only 3.5 years old. We rescued her when she was just barely a year and a half old. She has some wolf in her, therefore the wolf-like markings. :)

But, we has an old goggie, too. She’s a one-eyed Peik-a-poo named Shaina. Best lapdog EVER! :D

  21. Erin says:

“Goggie” was my first word, on an unrelated note…

  22. D.R. says:

  25. Stellar says:

That is sweet. Everyone needs love. Personally, I would rather adopt an older dog than a puppy. Puppies are adorable and anyone would adopt one. I would feel good knowing that I am definitely saving a life.

  26. fakeman33 says:

I miss my old dog so much. He passed away about a year and a half ago. He was sweet and loving and gave lots of kisses even though he was hurting because of his tumor. I wish people were more like dogs, and when I become a dad I want to teach my kids to have some of the amazing qualities in dogs that people take for granted, and it’s true, old dogs are the best!

  27. Rufusma says:

  33. West_River_rat says:

    Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….

    Author unknown.

    seems appropriate here.

  34. YourFriendFiona says:

Actually, the dog in the picture is my second-youngest dog, Luna. My husband, user dolphin824, didn’t know how to “claim” the photograph when he first uploaded it.

The really funny part is, she’s only 3.5 years old. *lol* She looks so old and gray because, A) she’s a rescue dog and had an extremely hard time of it with past owners, and B) she’s 1/3 wolf. ;)

In fact, we rescued her the day before they were going to put her down. Stupid three strikes and your out rulez. . .

  35. goggiefan says:

I haz a old goggie that passed on 2 years ago we named her tiny due to the fact when she was a puppy you could hold her in the palm of your hand.
She was a Peekapoo (pekanese (sp) and poodle mix) the sweetest dog ever! I loved every moment of owning her. Not the playful type but yet always very happy and was the ultimate lap dog. She died at the age of 16 roughly which is a good run for a small dog. She died of old age her body starting to give out and being in so much pain i couldn’t bare to hear her cry out in pain so we had to put her down.

Now i have a puppy named Oreo another mix (half chihuahua half Havanese). Though tiny will never be forgotten. I am gonna try to make sure oreo gets the same treatment and love i gave tiny.

BTW that story a few comments up is very beautiful! Made me have a sad!
