I’m guessing it’s a mix; the snout looks like a boxer and the ears sorta like a beagle.
Whatever it is, serious dog is serious.
I believe it’s a puggle – hard to tell the size, but that is definitely the coloring/marking of a puggle.
(And just in case your friend doesn’t have one, too – that’s a pug and beagle cross.)
